Are you on a Windows or Mac system?
You might try these:
- Install the updates from a new admin account
- Quit and re-launch the Creative Cloud desktop app using right-click Run as Administrator on Windows and then reinstall the updates
- Log out of the Creative Cloud for desktop app, using Preferences > Account, restart the computer, log back into the Creative Cloud desktop and install the updates
Let me know if that works,
I'm seeing the same thing - the same batch of Indesign and Dreamweaver etc. I install them on my non-privileged (after entering the admin username and password to install them) account and there they are again the next morning. First time I have noticed this, perhaps Adobe should realise not everyone wants to have all their accounts as admin accounts all the time.
or is there some fault in the checking of the versions ?? surely it must see that the Dreamweaver version build and version is the same ..? or perhaps it doesn't check that way.
I am really sorry that you are being asked to install the same update regularly and the products never get updated with the same.
Most of the time installing the updates from the Admin account fixes the issue but if it doesnt then it seems like somehow CC Desktop apps has lost the sync between the software and itself and to fix the issue I would advise to uninstall affected software and reinstall it and try updating it.
Please let us know if it helps or not.
I tried the following things after getting your answer.
- reinstalling the affected programs, didn't work
- reinstalling the entire cloud solution, didn't work
Both times i made sure it was delete properly. The problem only occurs with flash, premiere and after effects.
I don't get any error message when updating, it updates perfectly and runs smooth. But every time it is the same update required. Only difference is that sometimes it asks for my admin password for my computer and sometimes it doesn't. The update for after effects can be seen in the screenshot. That is the one it wants me to update every time i log on.
I have this problem as well and I run my MacBook Pro as administrator. I turn on my computer, CC immediately gets in my face telling me about updates I already have.
When I see threads like these where Adobe staff members offer pointless solutions - and there are many such threads when it comes to Creative Cloud - I can't help but to wonder: Why Adobe doesn't recruit some temporary outside help from people in the know about cloud sync technology. Wouldn't someone from, say, DropBox be able to help?
As far as picture/video processing, building website and assets, and large collaborative projects are concerned, Adobe put out excellent products.
But (and I say that with total honesty) Adobe stinks at cloud technology. This issue is but one of many that have made Adobe Creative Cloud a less than appealing offering. For instance as of now I can't sync anything unless I do it manually which is no help at all. The CC window keeps popping up for no reasons, and updates are repeating.
For Pete sakes, quit trying to solve those problems yourselves and get some help!
I have been havnig the same issue. Every day or at least everytime I log in to Adobe Creative Cloud the same four updates appear. No matter how many dozen's of times I install them. It is really getting out of hand. OSX 10.8 is the OS. About ready to unsubscribe and just install my old CS. And yes this is with an administrative account on the Mac.
I have exactly the same problem. My company has paid for 75 licences of CC and I have my login on two imacs (1 at work, 1 at home). The imac at work is fine, updates ok and not very often. Completely the opposite for the imac at home. I have the same 5 updates on a daily basis, which has been for the past month.
I do think it is about time that Adobe start looking at the problems people are coming to them with and sitting down at a developer level and trying to sort, and if you cant, be open about it, let your customers know, then get outside resource in to help fix the problem - dropbox is a good shout!!
This really needs sorting as soon as possible.
On another note, we have a digital team who have ditched CC to revert back to CS6 due to an issue with the process fontd, unless this process is quit, all of the digital arena of apps keep crashing.
ADOBE - why oh why cant you think of a different deployment system than every user needed an Adobe id. For a large company like ours, which keeps expanding, it is impossible to keep creating extra email addresses and then creating extra Adobe iD's, surely there is a better way of doing this. Especially if you read the EULA, which says once a user has signed up via an Adobe ID, the software is licenced to them and NOT the company!!! Absolutely moronic...
I also have the same problem except for me it is 8 updates, every single time I restart the computer it is the same updates.
Please try the below mentioned steps:
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0 and rename it to 1.0.old (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html)
Enable root account: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11331 and navigate to:
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0 and rename to 1.0.old (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html)
Restart your machine and check for updates.
Please let us know whether it worked.
Romit that did it! FYI, it was not necessary to enable root account. Thank you!
Hi, thank you for the above. It worked for the 6 updates I had to restart over and over and over and over again every time I was turning my computer on... But the problem continues with the update that came since (Photoshop CC). It won't remember that it was already updated and I updated it already 5 times in the last 24 hours - and I have a very bad connection... I'm really getting crazy! I NEED Adobe softwares to work, so cancelling my subscription to CC is not an option (at this stage I would be happy to!!) Could Adobe please fix this as it is HORRIBLY annoying.
I hope so too that they will fix this. Because it isn't just plain annoying, it waists bandwith (and with that power) for a problem Adobe should fix! Before you know we should dive into Terminal to fix things they did wrong!
This CC deal is getting more and more of a pain. Never had major issues like this before that CC switch, kinda strange...
This method does seem to work, except for me changing the name of the 'AAMUpdater' folder didn't work but when I changed the name of the 'AAMUpdater Inventory' folder directly beneath it, that fixed it for me. It allowed it to create a new 1.0 folder.
Please do not change AAMUpdater Inventory as this my effect future updates.
ok will do, helpful to know. I will change it back. Although the AAMUpdater changing by itself didn't work for me on the updating issue. : /
Please chage AAMUpdater folder on both root and reguar account and try to update from root.
Could you please explain a little more? Because I would love a normal fix from your end and not having to change anything in my root or regular account. This feels very wrong; trying to fix your problems by ourselfs and at our end...
This worked for me! Thank you!
Hi, could any of you please give a simple and straightforward answer to my question please? Within a month? That would be appreciated...
I am getting really upset with Adobe not able to fix the problem. EVERY TIME I start my computer, all my applications need to be updated again, the CC application does not remember updates, even if it was 10 minutes ago!!!!!!!!!!!!
In addition, now, 3 applications repeatedly fail to update, despite dozens of update attempts in the last 5-6 weeks (After Effects, Prelude and SpeedGrade).
Every time I try to connect with support chat, I get kicked out with a message saying that all technicians are busy.
I am tired of Adobe staff telling us to go mess up in the system, then coming a few weeks later telling that we should not do what they told us to do previously. Plus I do not understand at all what "Please chage AAMUpdater folder on both root and reguar account and try to update from root". Update from root? What is that supposed to mean to me???
Please Adobe fix this for your clients. It is so annoying, I am now looking for any viable alternative to Adobe products. If fellow posters on this thread have a clue what i could use for serious photo and video editing that is not Adobe, thank you to share!
The instructions mentioned is for Mac and enabling root account is not necessary. If you are a windows user then please navigate to this location and rename the AAMupdater to AAMupdater.old and try updating the software.
Appdata folder is hidden so please follow this link to unhide it.
Hope it helps.
I am a Mac user and do not understand anything to the instructions given here. I just know my Adobe CC application is messing up my updates totally, failing to update and recently asking me to register my products when I open them first time after an update. I also know that I created a new 1.0 old folder (not in the root account which I have no clue how to enable) and now have both a 1.0 and a 1.0old folder...
Adobe programs are brilliant as ever, but the CC application is a TOTAL DISASTER. I do not have the computer skills to follow the instructions above, so I will be hoping for a few more weeks for Adobe to fix CC on their side or I will learn how to work entirely with non-Adobe products and cancel my subscription.
Hi Olivier, I'm totally with you on this one! And the Adobe 'support' doesn't even seem to be able to understand the problem; we don't want to fix things on our end, we want Adobe to fix things on their end!
All we want is just work with the tools we pay for and we also pay them so that everything runs smooth, like it is supposed to be.
Same problem here. And every time I re-run an update, it chews up gigs more disk space. WTF? Where are all the files going and how do I delete them?
I read on another forum that uninstalling the apps that are having the issues and then re-installing them fixes it. So far it's been a week and it's solved for me.
In each of the Adobe folders in your applications there is an uninstaller pkg. Run that and uninstall the applications giving you update issues. Then using the creative cloud application re-download it and install it.
It's not an ideal solve but it works.
Romit's solution worked for me. But only temporarily. After following the procedure, AAM became aware of several apps that needed updates, which it hadn't acknowledged before. Aftert the updates completed, I quit Creativ Cloud and relaunched. At relaunch it wanted to download the apps I had just downloaded. C'mon Adobe. This is insane. Please help!
The lack of help from Adobe on this matter, especially when being discussed for a long time on their own forum, is disappointing to say the least…
I completely agree. I am dumbfounded by how they are just ignoring this problem. At this point once my contract for the online services is done, I am done with the Adobe products. Too many competitive products available to put up with such a lack of support.
I concur - ADOBE PLEASE SORT THIS OUT.
I'm constantly have this issue on my mac running 10.9.1 and now having tried the renaming folder schtick, I find that all the updates now fail.
Well done Adobe, pats on the back all round.
Hello Adobe, can you provide a time frame for when you will resolve this issue?
All the best,
your paying customers.
I have to agree with you both. This should be a priority on Adobe's end. I want to work on my projects, not on my computer's system and root.
Same issue here. These instructions make no sense to me...and my apps constantly ask to be updated.
So, I'm supposed to leave the folder named "1.0.old" even after I enable a root account? Or, do I change it back? I tried following these instructions it still keeps happening.
This is very frustrating and it is a colossal waste of time. It's been weeks of this. Surely Adobe is doing something about this issue!
I would have thought so too when I first had the problem months ago, but not a peep from them about this issue and nothing that seems to resolve it.
I don't know anyone else's experience. This fix seems to work for about a week, then the problem starts reoccurring. Any idea why the AAM files keep getting corrupted? Is there anything that can be done to make a more permanent fix in this? This problem only started occuring after I went to OS 10.9.
It works until a new update comes for me too. So frustrating!
Dear Adobe, could you at least tell us you're working on it please? Being ignored is even more frustrating.
Hey everyone who's having this problem, me included, how about every time we see the update requests for CC we each create a new/separate post on the CC forum?
I've tried the various fixes including reinstalling and so far nothing works.
I'm now getting failures in any updates I try and apply.
I think at the moment, adobe are happily ignoring this one since all the complaints are in one place.
Reckon I might start today.
